Sarah Mitchell, Hair Stylist

Sarah Mitchell grew up in Deerpark, TX and currently lives in League City with her fiancé. With her wedding only a few months away, Sarah has a lot to be excited about! She’s looking forward to starting a family and enjoying married life. This girl-next-door has 2 adorable dogs- Tiki and Rusty, and enjoys fishing, golfing, and anything that involves being outdoors as well as spending time with her friends and family. Sarah told me she can definitely understand that “middle child syndrome” as she has an older brother and younger sister that she adores. Sarah also likes to bake and loves going to Mexican restaurants. We have something in common-our love for desserts and Mexican food! Although I have to wonder, is a margarita considered food if it’s strawberry-mango? I think it’s debatable.

Sarah has been a stylist for 3 years and at Urban Retreat for 2 years. Sarah works 10 a.m. -6 pm. Monday – Friday and every other Saturday. Her specialty is highlights and the Brazilian straightening treatment. I asked Sarah what the current hair trends are and she says deep waves and big curls are hot right now as well as softer, darker highlights with a focus on texture. A self-proclaimed people’s person, Sarah loves meeting people which makes her job at Urban Retreat even more enjoyable. I’ve noticed a common theme among the stylists here is that they’re favorite thing about their job is their clients. I think Urban Retreat has them spoiled because unfortunately for me, not one of the stylists has told me a juicy tale that involves an extremely difficult client. You won’t see a scene from Bravo’s Sheer Genius take place here!

Sarah’s services range from $53 for a blow dry to over $400 for the Brazilian straightening treatment. Sure, you could buy a pair of Jimmy Choo sale sandals or the new Michael Kors bag for that price but what’s the point of a fabulous pair of shoes or bag if your hair isn’t as equally fabulous!? Also, the Brazilian treatment keeps your hair straight and manageable for months at a time so it practically pays for itself. It turns dry and/or frizzy hair into smooth, silky hair for 3-5 months. Now that’s what I call a recession-friendly hair style!
