Lindsey White, Hair Stylist

Lindsey White received her cosmetologist license in Oklahoma and moved to Houston a year ago where she begin working for Urban Retreat as an apprentice. Think “The Apprentice” with The Donald….without The Donald. She has been a stylist for 2 years but all new stylists must first serve as an assistant in some capacity when beginning at Urban Retreat. Lindsey is appreciative of her apprenticeship because she’s worked with Urban Retreat’s seasoned and knowledgeable stylists and believes they have helped her tremendously to grow in her field.

A beautiful girl with a great personality is how I imagine most people describe Lindsey and I’d have to agree.  She was just so happy and vibrant which is always refreshing. Lindsey explained to me that her favorite thing about working at Urban Retreat is the clients. Urban Retreat has their longstanding customers that faithfully come every week so a lot of times it feels like family to be around the clients. She also loves that some of the clients will just pop in to say hello when they’re in the neighborhood. I think this speaks volumes about her and the customer service they must receive when receiving their services at Urban Retreat!

Lindsey loves her new life in Houston because she feels it’s alive and there’s always something to do. She enjoys going to concerts and happy hours and her favorite bar is the Poison Girl in Montrose (they have pinball machines- sweeeeet). Lindsey also pops into RA Sushi often for fresh sushi and sake bombs. She goes on to tell me that she has a 7-year old rescue cat, Caira, which she took in 2 years ago. She’s like a nun that cuts and colors!

When working with clients, Lindsey prides herself on being attentive and open-minded to follow-through on clients’ ideas for their hair. Have you ever explained to a stylist how you wanted your hair cut and they insisted on something different? You further explained your vision for your hair but left the salon with the stylist’s vision? Yep, thought so. I have too and it’s not fun, I tell you! Lindsey won me over when she mentioned this topic and how she accommodates the client to reach their vision for their hair. As a color specialist, Lindsey will help you find your perfect shade while chatting with you about this weekend’s hot spots to go to. She considers herself a client’s best friend and will always lend you her ear. That’s nice to know because after all, aren’t our hair stylists supposed to be our therapist as well?!
